Programme Management
Introduction
There can be confusion between a project and a programme. Generally, the latter will be bigger, longer, more valuable, more risky/uncertain, more strategic, more outcome based whereas a project will focus on delivering a well-scoped output. Programme Managers need a different skills set from a Project Manager and without a framework of how to proceed, the chances of failure are greatly increased.
This workshop is based on Managing Successful Programmes MSP™ and is aimed at Programme Managers and anyone else with an interest in programmes.
Aim
To be able to use a simple process model and set of templates to make a successful outcome to the programme more likely.
Objectives
By the end of the programme, delegates will be able to:
• Use a simple process model to schedule key activities in the correct sequence
• Understand the key control points, the decisions required and what must be prepared for prior to the decision being made
• Create a programme management team
• Write a Business Case and manage benefits realisation
• Create a Vision Statement and Blueprint
• Engage effectively with stakeholders
• Create effective plans and controls
• Manage risk successfully
• Use templates to create key programme documents

There will be formal input with plenty of opportunity to discuss the method and its application in real projects with exercises based around a scenario.
